Marie Osmond is leaving The Talk after just one season at the CBS daytime show. Deadline reports that Osmond will devote her time to other projects, including a new show at ViacomCBS.

“Marie is a consummate professional, and we thank her for sharing her personal experiences, insight, as well as incredible talents, with our audience,” CBS said in a statement provided to Deadline on Wednesday night. “We will miss her humor, kindness and good nature, and wish her much success in her future endeavors.”

Osmond joined The Talk in September 2019 and filled the seat left vacant by creator Sara Gilbert. She was a natural fit for the role, as she appeared as a guest host more than 40 times throughout the show’s nine previous seasons. Osmond established a natural rapport with fellow panelists Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourne, and Sheryl Underwood, who will return for the show’s upcoming eleventh season.

In a statement, Osmond said that she is leaving the show to focus on career and personal life. “One of the highlights of my year at The Talk was working with my dear friend [and former executive producer and showrunner] John Redmann, and I’m excited to continue our working relationship on several projects we are developing,” said the actress. “Also, my husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, we looked at each other, laughed and remembered we hadn’t been this alone together since 1982!! So, at this stage of my life, I’m looking forward to spending more time with him and visiting all the kids/grandkids.”

According to Deadline, The Talk Season 11 is expected to begin production in September with the four remaining panelists. A new co-host will be named in the weeks to come, as well as a replacement for Redmann, who left the show in August after 10 seasons.
