Get those tissues ready. This week, Disney+ released an official trailer for Clouds, a new movie inspired by the life and career of musician Zach Sobiech. Based on a memoir by Zach Sobiech’s mother Laura Sobiech, the Clouds Disney+ movie stars Fin Argus as a high school-aged musician living with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer.

WHAT IS THE ZACH SOBIECH CLOUDS MOVIE ABOUT?

Inspired by the true story of Zach Sobiech, Clouds follows a high school senior with raw musical talent who is diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer. When Zach receives news that the cancer has spread, he resolves to live every day as if it’s his last, and he and best friend Samantha “Sammy” Brown set out to pursue their dreams. What follows is a story about friendship, love, and the power of music that viewers won’s soon forget.

CLOUDS DISNEY PLUS: WHO IS ZACH SOBIECH?

Zach Sobiech was a Minnesota native and member of the band A Firm Handshake. At the age of 14, Sobiech was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, and a few years later, doctors told him that the cancer had spread and he had less than a year left to live. In December 2012, Sobiech and his bandmates released a single about his battle with cancer titled “Clouds,” and the music video immediately went viral.

Unfortunately, Sobiech passed away in May 2013, but his story continues to inspire fans around the world. In 2014, Laura Sobiech, released a memoir about her son’s life that serves as a basis for the new Disney+ film.

CLOUDS DISNEY PLUS CAST: MEET FIN ARGUS

Zach Sobiech will be played by Fin Argus, an actor and musician on the brink of a major breakout. Argus has previously appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Commute, and short films including The Regulars and Perception, but Clouds will be his first major lead role.

Clouds also stars Sabrina Carpenter (more on that below!), Lil Rel Howry as Zach’s mentor and teacher, Madison Iseman as his girlfriend Amy, and Tom Everett Scott and Neve Campbell as his parents Rob and Laura.

WHO PLAYS SAMMY BROWN IN DISNEY’S CLOUDS?

Zach’s best friend and songwriting partner Samantha “Sammy” Brown played a large role in his life, so it makes sense that she will be featured prominently in Clouds on Disney+. Sammy is played by Sabrina Carpenter, a singer and actress in her own right. Carpenter most recently starred in Netflix’s Work It and Tall Girl, but she has also appeared in major projects like The Hate U Give, Girl Meets World, and Adventures in Babysitting.
