‘No Sudden Move’: Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Kieran Culkin and More Sign on for Steven Soderbergh’s HBO Film

Steven Soderbergh‘s latest project is moving ahead at HBO Max. The upcoming drama, titled No Sudden Move, is set to begin production in Detroit, Michigan, today, and the cast is about as packed with talent as they come, bringing together more than a dozen big names for the project.

HBO revealed the cast of the star-studded feature today, which is set to include Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Amy Seimetz, Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta, Kieran Culkin, Brendan Fraser, Noah Jupe, Bill Duke, Frankie Shaw, and Julia FoxNo Sudden Move is written by Men In Black‘s Ed Soloman and produced by Casey Silver.

The drama is set right in Detroit, but takes place in the 1950s. According to HBO’s official description, No Sudden Move centers on a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. When their plan goes horribly wrong, their search for who hired them – and for what ultimate purpose – weaves them through all echelons of the race-torn, rapidly changing city.

“It’s a pleasure to begin production on another project with Steven Soderbergh, Casey Silver and Ed Solomon,” Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max, said in a statement. “We have an incredible partner in Warner Bros. Pictures and an extraordinarily talented cast – we couldn’t be happier to bring No Sudden Move to HBO Max.”

Soderbergh added, “The last time I shot a movie in Detroit with a great script and a great cast things worked out really well, so I’m very excited behind my mask right now.”

No Sudden Move is being produced under Soderbergh’s three-year deal with HBO Max, which he officially signed earlier this year. We can expect to see Soderbergh’s new HBO Max film, Let Them All Talk starring Meryl Streep and Candice Bergen, premiere on the platform later this year.
