Imagine all the people, finally able to watch Gal Gadot reprise her role as Diana of Themyscira, a.k.a. Wonder Woman. When Wonder Woman 1984 premiered last December, it was only available in theaters and on HBO Max, but this week, it’s reached wider distribution on VOD, so put on your good gauntlets and settle in. In addition to the Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman 1984, there’s another action-packed film available featuring a butt-kicking woman this week. Ruby Rose is one of the stars of SAS: Red Notice, about a group of hijackers who commandeer a train beneath the English Channel. And if you want to switch gears for something lighter, Happily is a Jack Black-produced “comedy thriller” starring Joel McHale, Stephen Root, and Kerry Bishé that has the makings of a rom-com, but with a dead body thrown in.

Wonder Woman 1984

The Princess of the Amazons is finally available in wider release. Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, reprising the title role she originated in the 2017 version of the DC franchise. Also returning from the original are Chris Pine playing Steve Trevor brought back to life from the first film, it’s a whole plot thing, plus Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hyppolyta. The year is 1984, Diana is working at the Smithsonian alongside a new coworker, Barbara (Kristen Wiig). Both women make wishes on a mystical Dreamstone, and Barbara’s wish to have super powers and Diana’s wish for Steve to come back are both granted. Chaos naturally ensues.

SAS: Red Notice

SAS: Red Notice, a thriller based on a novel by Andy McNab, stars Outlander‘s Sam Heughan as a British SAS agent named Tom Buckingham. Orange Is The New Black‘s Ruby Rose leads a terrorist organization known as the Black Swans. The two meet when Rose’s character, Grace Lewis, hijacks the train carrying Buckingham and his fiancée and it’s up to Buckingham to foil her plans.
