Shadow and Bone the Series: Which Leigh Bardugo Books is the Netflix Show Based on?
As you would expect, the Shadow and Bone series is a live action adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling novel Shadow and Bone. However, the show also takes characters, settings and concepts from another Grishaverse book, Six of Crows, and brings them into the world of Shadow and Bone.
Shadow and Bone the book follows the origins of Alina Starkov’s powers as the Sun Summoner. We watch her discover her ability to summon light and her journey to train up as a Grisha in the Little Palace. We’ll see all this in Shadow and Bone the show and more…
Netflix’s Shadow and Bone also introduces three Ketterdam criminals named Kaz Brekker (Freddy Carter), Jesper Fahey (Kit Young), and Inej Ghafa (Amita Suman) as they take on a daring heist involving Alina. These characters are part of a crew nicknamed the Crows who go after another wild heist in Six of Crows. Two other characters from that book, Nina (Danielle Galligan) and Matthias (Calahan Skogman), meet in Shadow and Bone Season 1.
