Start preparing your goodbyes to the Pearsons: This Is Us is officially ending with Season 6. NBC‘s award-winning drama will come to an end with its next season, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Dan Fogelman‘s tear-jerker series is in the middle of its fifth season at the moment, with its sixth and final season set to debut next year.

Representatives from NBC and the show’s studio, 20th Century Television, declined comment to The Hollywood Reporter. Sources state that the network is set to announce the news this Friday, May 14, as they reveal their fall schedule for the 2021-2022 season. For the first time, Frances Berwick and Susan Rovner will present their vision for the company as new execs.

Creators and stars have been hinting at the end of This Is Us for a while, so the news should come at no surprise. When the show was renewed for three seasons in 2019, sources mentioned that main cast like Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia would not return past the sixth season. Ahead of the Season 3 finale, Fogelman also noted that the show had reached its midpoint.

“I think we’re roughly in the middle of where the television series is going to go,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “We never set out to make a television series that was going to last 18 seasons, and so we have a very direct plan.”

The This Is Us Season 5 finale will air May 25 on NBC.
