Knowing is half the battle when it comes to watching Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, the third installment in the G.I. Joe film franchise that is coming to theaters this weekend. The movie will serve as an origin story for the character in the G.I. Joe universe known as Snake Eyes, a ninja-like soldier on the G.I. Joe command team.
Played by Ray Park in the first two films, Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding is now stepping into the role to play Snake Eyes long before he joined the G.I. Joe team, back when he was just a trainee under a Japanese ninja clan. Joining Golding in the cast are Andrew Koji, Úrsula Corberó, Samara Weaving, and Iko Uwais, with director Robert Schwentke (The Divergent Series: Insurgent and The Divergent Series: Allegiant) at the helm.
For now, the only way to watch Snake Eyes is in a movie theater, but read on for all your options on when and how you’ll be able to watch Snake Eyes on streaming in the future.
WHERE TO WATCH SNAKE EYES:
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins will open in theaters only in the U.S. on Friday, July 23. You can find a showing at a movie theater near you here.
IS SNAKES EYES ON STREAMING?
Not just yet. However, while there is not yet an official streaming release date for Snake Eyes, we can guess that the film will be available on Paramount+ about 45 days after it opened in theaters on July 23.
Earlier this year, Paramount Pictures, the studio behind Snake Eyes, announced a plan to shorten the theatrical release of its biggest upcoming titles to 45 days. After about a 45-day window, the films will head to Paramount+, the streaming service formerly known as CBS All Access. However, not every film has the same release window, so stay tuned for more news on when Snake Eyes will be on Paramount+. You can subscribe to Paramount+ with a premium plan priced at $9.99/month or with an ad-supported plan for $5.99/month.
WHEN WILL SNAKES EYES BE ON PARAMOUNT PLUS?
Paramount has not yet announced an official release date for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins on Paramount+. However, based on the release date and the 45-day theatrical window, we can reasonably guess that Snake Eyes will be on Paramount+ at the beginning of September, sometime around September 7, 2021.
IS SNAKE EYES ON NETFLIX?
No, sorry. However, you can watch the first film in the G.I. Joe franchise, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, on Netflix, though.
IS SNAKE EYES ON HBO MAX?
Also no. While HBO Max, which is owned by Warner Media, has become the streaming home for blockbusters like Space Jam: A New Legacy—which, in case you hadn’t heard, is a movie made by Warner Bros.—Snake Eyes is a Paramount film, not a Warner Bros. film. While it’s possible Snakes Eyes will be on HBO Max someday, it will not be any time soon.
