Bob Odenkirk in “Stable Condition” After On-Set Collapse: “He’s Going to Be Okay”

After collapsing on the set of Better Call Saul on Tuesday (July 27) evening, reps for Bob Odenkirk have confirmed the actor is now in stable condition. The actor suffered a “heart-related incident” while filming the sixth and final season for the AMC series, but is in recovery now.

“We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart-related incident,” reps for the actor said in a statement yesterday (July 26) afternoon. “He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”

Odenkirk’s son, Nate, also confirmed the news on Twitter: “He’s going to be okay,” the younger Odenkirk wrote.

The 58-year-old actor collapsed on set of the prequel series as production was underway in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Crew-members quickly surrounded him, calling him an ambulance.

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, production for the final season of Better Call Saul was a little more than halfway done at the time of Odenkirk’s incident. Production remains halted as everyone involved in the series focuses on Odenkirk’s health. AMC has yet to announce the next steps in production.

“Bob is someone we have known and been lucky enough to work with for a long time. The immediate outpouring of affection and concern from fans around the world is a clear reflection of his immense talents and ability to both move and entertain people,” AMC said in a statement yesterday night. “Like everyone else, we are so grateful to know he is in stable condition and receiving excellent care. We are holding him close in our thoughts and wishing for a fast and full recovery.”

After the good news about Odenkirk’s health was released, the actor’s friends and co-stars were quick to share their support and relief. David Cross, Odenkirk’s co-star in the hit HBO series Mr. Show with Bob and David who had strong words of support yesterday, shared his thoughts in a concise tweet: “Bob won.”

Odenkirk is a four-time Emmy nominee for his role as lawyer Saul Goodman in the Breaking Bad prequel series, a role he’s continued to reprise since its first debut in 2008. Better Call Saul‘s final season was originally slated to debut this year, but due to pandemic-related delays, the season is now expected to air sometime in 2022.
