Happy August, everyone! This Woman Crush Wednesday, we are celebrating a super star who has been crushing it on everything from reality television to blockbuster films over the past 17 years of her onscreen career. She’s an absolute delight so make sure to be loud (who cares what your neighbors or bosses say, right?) as you give it up for her, your WCW, the terrific Jamie Chung!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Jamie Chung

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Chung is a part of the cast of brand new Apple TV+ Original series, Mr. Corman, which premieres on the platform this Friday, August 6th. The comedy-drama follows Josh Corman (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a fifth-grade public school teacher in the San Fernando Valley who dreams of a life as an artist and musician, although his attempts at following that path didn’t exactly work out for him. Now, he is struggling through his fiancé (Juno Temple) moving out and ending their relationship, feelings of loneliness and anxiety, and a journey to figure out (and like) who he really is.

This slice-of-life show full of all sorts of relatable sentiments and existential crises was created, directed, and written by Gordon-Levitt, and in addition to himself, Chung, and Temple, features a great cast that includes Arturo Castro, Debra Winger, Shannon Woodward, Veronica Falcon, and Logic. The series is already generating plenty of buzz and interest these days, so make sure to see for yourself all of Chung and the rest of the cast’s hard work by watching Mr. Corman as soon as it comes out, only on Apple TV+.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Chung’s professional onscreen career began in 2004 when she was a main cast member in the MTV reality series The Real World: San Diego (which, it’s worth noting, was same season that launched the career of eventual Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks). From there, she began branching out into a more diverse range of projects, acting in shows like Veronica MarsERDays of Our LivesGreekSamurai GirlCastle, and Grey’s Anatomy, and in films like 2007 buddy comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, 2009 action-fantasy Dragonball Evolution, 2009 slasher Sorority Row, 2010 satirical thriller Burning Palms, and 2010 comedy Grown Ups.

Over the past decade, Chung has only continued to take her career to the next level, picking up recurring roles on television series like Once Upon A Time, in which she played Mulan from 2012 to 2016, Believe, in which she played series regular Janice Channing in 2014, Resident Advisors, playing series regular Olivia in 2015, and Gotham, in which she had the recurring role of Valerie Vale in 2016. Some of her most notable television work in recent years include recurring and guest roles in Big Hero 6: The SeriesThe GiftedSherwoodAwkwafina is Nora From QueensThis is Us, and Lovecraft Country.

Chung has made an impact on the silver screen over the past decade as well, with an impressive list of credits that include 2011 comedy The Hangover Part II, 2012 action thriller Premium Rush, 2012 drama Eden, 2012 political thriller Knife Fight, 2013 comedy The Hangover Part III, 2014 animated superhero flick Big Hero 6, 2016 comedy Office Christmas Party, 2017 comedy-drama Band Aid, and 2021 heist comedy The Misfits (you know, just to name a few). Clearly, if her dynamic filmography is any indication, Chung is an extremely talented and multi-dimensional actress who has already achieved a lot in her career, and who still has so much success coming her way in the years ahead.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see more from Chung. The actress already has two projects in the works, which are both expected to premiere within the next year or two. The first is drama series Dexter: New Blood, which is set 10 years after Dexter Morgan (of the popular crime-drama show Dexter) went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, and sees him now living under an assumed name in Upstate New York, far from his original home in Miami. Chung will also be voice acting as the Norse goddess Hel in upcoming animated action-adventure series Twilight of the Gods, which will be a Zack Snyder-produced Netflix anime about Norse mythology.

For even more from Chung in the meantime, be sure to follow her on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and to check out her official website while you’re at it, too. Don’t miss a moment from our wonderful WCW, Jamie Chung!
