Sweet Girl is a high-stakes action film about a man’s mission to bring the American healthcare system to justice. Jason Momoa (Aquaman) stars as Cooper, a loving father and husband who loses his wife thanks to the greed of the pharmaceutical industry. Grief-stricken and filled with rage, he sets out for revenge against her killers — the whole messed-up system — all while trying to protect the only family he has left: his daughter (Isabela Merced). New on Netflix this weekend, this action flick is filled with equal parts family and fight, making Sweet Girl one of the top movies new on Netflix this month.

New on Amazon Prime Video August 20: Annette

New on Amazon Prime Video this weekend is Annette, a musical film in which Adam Driver sings! Leos Carax (Holy Motors) directs this film about two performers who fall in love and take the spotlight as the world’s “It” couple. But when they have a child — a mysterious little girl with “unique gifts” and an exceptional destiny — their worlds are irrevocably turned upside down. Also starring Marion Cotillard and Simon Helberg, Annette is the jukebox musical film of the summer.

Hugh Jackman stars in Reminiscence, the latest Warner Bros. film that is new on HBO Max this weekend. In this science fiction thriller, Jackman plays a scientist who discovers a way to relive people’s past and uses it to find his own lost love, Mae (Rebecca Ferguson). This “private investigator of the mind” will stop at nothing to find the woman who went from being a client to his own personal obsession when she suddenly disappears.
