Happy November, everyone! We’re feeling thankful that we get to kick off the first Woman Crush Wednesday of the month by celebrating a wonderful woman who has already carved out a place for herself in the entertainment industry and put out plenty of rockin’ work while still being just 23 years-old. She’s clearly got many more years of awesome acting ahead, so make sure to keep up with her and remember her name. Without further ado, give it up for your WCW, the incredible Isabella Gomez!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Isabella Gomez

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Gomez stars as Alicia Adams in the upcoming HBO Max Original series Head of the Class, which premieres on the platform this Thursday, November 4th. The comedy series is a reboot of the original ABC sitcom of the same name that ran from 1986 to 1991, following a similar premise as a group of overachieving high school students meet their greatest challenge – a teacher who wants them to focus less on grades and more on experiencing life. This time around, however, the titular head of the class is Alicia Adams (Gomez), a young and energetic teacher who brings her own unique flare to teacher, ultimately helping to create this show that sets itself apart from its source material as an enjoyable standalone hit.

Alongside Gomez, the 10-episode series features Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Gavin Lewis, Jorge Diaz, Dior Goodjohn, Brandon Severs, Adrian Matthew Escalona and special guest stars Christa Miller and Robin Givens (who starred as Darlene Merriman in the original ABC series). Make sure to check out all of their fantastic work by watching Head of the Class as soon as it drops this week on HBO Max.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Gomez’s professional onscreen career began in 2014 when she earned the recurring role of Cristina Sandoval in El Rey Network crime-action series Matador. From there, the actress began picking up one-episode guest roles in series like Modern Family and Star vs. the Forces of Evil, but has especially made a big splash in recent years with her lead role as Elena Alvarez in Netflix sitcom One Day at a Time as well as for her vocal work for recurring character Megan/Woman in Disney animated superhero comedy Big Hero 6: The Series. Lately, Gomez has continued to put out solid work while appearing in shows like The Blank’s YPF and making her feature film debut in 2020 crime-horror mystery Initiation. We have no doubt that Gomez’s career will only continue to soar from here, and we can’t wait to see all of the amazing things she will create and accomplish in the future!

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see more from Gomez. The actress will appear as Gina Navarro in the currently-filming movie Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. Based on Benjamin Alire Sáenz’s 2012 novel of the same name, this drama film is set in 1987 El Paso and tells the story of two teenage Mexican-American loners (Max Pelayo and Reese Gonzales) as they explore their friendship and the difficult road to self-discovery.

For even more from Gomez while you wait for her movie to come out, you can follow her on Twitter and Instagram. Never miss a moment from this week’s world-class WCW!
