We’ve got Christmas coming up in less than a week, but we’re still serving up an early gift for you in the form of our weekly Woman Crush Wednesday. We hope you’re feeling festive, being today we’re celebrating a wonderful woman whose body of work is sure to bring you plenty of merriment and joy this holiday season (and beyond). In a mere decade, this terrific Taiwanese-American actress has made her mark on the entertainment industry and then some, accumulating credits all over the map both in genre and geography, so it’s only right that we take a moment to recognize the awesomeness she’s accomplished thus far and to look forward to all that she has on the horizon. Without further ado, let’s give it up for this week’s WCW, the captivating Christine Ko!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Christine Ko
WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Ko is Nancy (as in synth player Nancy Whang of rock band LCD Soundsystem) in fictional sitcom “All My Friends,” which exists within the universe of upcoming Amazon Prime Video title The LCD Soundsystem Holiday Special, which premieres on the platform today, on December 22nd. This inventive musical comedy special is half concert performance by the real members of LCD Soundsystem and is also half ’90s sitcom spoof in the form of “All My Friends,” which features stars like Ko, Macaulay Culkin, Eric Wareheim, Aparna Nancherla, and Jon Daly portraying fictionalized version of the titular band. The special is a sleigh full of festive fun and musical merriment from beginning to end, so make sure to check it out as soon as it drops, only on Prime!
WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Ko’s professional onscreen career began in Taiwan before hitting American screens with a bang in 2012 with the recurring role of Courtney in TV comedy short BFFs, the two-episode role of Brenda in Nick at Nite drama series Hollywood Heights, and with the role of Stephanie in short comedy film Salsa Basement Party. She quickly accumulated work in music videos like Phoenix’s “Entertainment” and Chester See’s “Whistle While I Work It,” 2015 comedic TV movie The Half of It, and a 2016 episode of HBO comedy-drama Ballers before landing her first major recurring role in a series, playing Emma in CBS sitcom The Great Indoors.
From there, Ko continued to steadily build up an impressive filmography with roles in shows like Sorry, AriAdam Ruins EverythingRelationship StatusDog TherapistDeceptionHawaii Five-0Dead Inside, and No Good Nick, as well as in films like 2017 historical drama The Jade Pendant, 2018 comedy Grandmother’s Gold, 2019 mystery-comedy Extracurricular Activities, and 2019 drama Justine. Within the last two years, Ko has continued to thrive on screens big and small, taking her career to the next level with guest or recurring roles in series like StumptownDaveUploadMaster of None, and Just Beyond, and with work in films like 2020 drama Tigertail, 2020 thriller Stalker, and 2021 romantic-drama Sweet Pecan Summer. Clearly, Ko has created an incredible career for herself consisting of dynamic roles and challenging credits that have made her into the talented actress she is today, and we’re so excited to see all of the amazing things she will create and accomplish in the years to come.
WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see more from Ko, since the actress has three projects in the works, which are all expected to drop at some point within the next year or two. Look out for her in drama short film Yugen, horror film The Knocking, and drama film Mabel.
