If your brain has the capacity to consume anything other than Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, then it may behoove you to know that Death on the Nile is now streaming on HBO Max and streaming on Hulu, free to all subscribers.

The murder mystery movie from 20th Century Fox opened in theaters just a little over a month ago. It’s unusual for a movie to debut on two streaming services at the same time so soon after its release, but the reason is thanks to a deal between HBO and Disney. Even though 20th Century Fox is now owned by Disney, Disney is still bound to a 10-year deal between 20th Century Fox and HBO that was signed in 2012. That deal runs through 2022, so HBO/HBO Max recently agreed to share co-exclusive rights with Disney. (Hulu is also owned by Disney, and was no doubt a more appropriate streaming home for the PG-13 thriller than Disney’s family-friendly streamer, Disney+.)

As of Tuesday, March 29, Death on the Nile is also available to buy on digital platforms like Amazon for $19.99. The movie will release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on April 5.

All this is to say: On Sunday night, you saw Kenneth Branagh win an Oscar for his coming-of-age drama Belfast, and now today you can watch him as the world-renowned private detective Hercule Poirot, in this thriller based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. Branagh, who also directed the movie, is reprising his role from the first film, 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express. His on-screen crime-solving partner Bouc, played by Tom Bateman, is back, too.

But otherwise, there’s a new murder mystery with a new cast of characters, starring Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright. This time, the setting is a cruise ship, and the murder is of a wealthy heiress whose valuable necklace is stolen. Someone on the boat is responsible… but who?

You’ll have to stream Death on the Nile on Hulu or HBO Max to find out.
