WHO’S THAT GAL: Laura Harrier

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Harrier plays Robin Givens in the upcoming Hulu Original title Mike, which premieres on the platform this Thursday, on August 25. The biological drama mini-series delves deep into the wild, tragic, and controversial life and career of heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson (Trevante Rhodes). Over the course of eight riveting episodes, Mike gives an unflinching close look at one of the most polarizing figures in sports culture today, and is already generating plenty of positive press from publications like SlantPaste, and more. See what all the hype is about by checking out Harrier and the rest of the terrific cast in Mike as soon as its first two episodes drop this week, only on Hulu.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Harrier’s professional onscreen career began in 2013, when she earned the recurring role of Destiny Evans in the Hulu revival of long-running ABC soap opera One Life to Live. Just one year later, she made her feature film debut in musical romantic comedy-drama The Last Five Years, and also appeared in an episode of CBS procedural crime-drama Unforgettable. From there, Harrier was on a roll, earning a steady stream of acting work in films like 2015 comedy 4th Man Out, 2017 superhero blockbuster Spider-Man: Homecoming (and a cameo in its 2021 sequel), 2018 crime bio-pic BlacKkKlansman, 2019 drama and Balance, Not Symmetry.

Most recently, you may have seen her as Sherri in 2021 comedy-drama film The Starling, Camille Washington in Netflix Original drama series Hollywood, and Layla in Apple TV+ Original drama series Calls. Clearly Harrier is a force to be reckoned with as she continued to build ip her filmography with one dynamic performance after another, and we can’t wait to see all of the fantastic projects and successes she has in store for the years to come!

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see more from Harrier, as the actress already has two exciting projects currently in the works. First, you can forward to seeing her voice Carmen in upcoming Netflix Original adult animated musical drama series Entergalactic, which features an all-star cast that includes Kid Cudi, Jessica Williams, Timothée Chalamet, Vanessa Hudgens, Jaden Smith, Keith David, and Macaulay Culkin in addition to Harrier. You can also look out for her in the currently-filming remake of 1992 sports comedy film White Men Can’t Jump, which is set to star Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls in the roles originated by Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes.
