Reba McEntire and Jensen Ackles Steal the Spotlight in ‘Big Sky’ Season 3 Trailer

It’s safe to say Jensen Ackles has most definitely kept busy since the end of his 15-year run on Supernatural. Having appeared in the latest season of the Prime Video superhero series The Boys and the Season 2 finale of Big Sky, it looks like the actor is here to stay in the latter, judging by a new teaser for Season 3 you can watch above. And, because good things come in pairs, he will be joined by beloved country singer and Reba star, Reba McEntire.

McEntire opens up the teaser, leading a hiking excursion through her “backcountry experience.” While things seem lighthearted, just as her character, Sunny, says, “Let’s get out there and have some fun and be safe,” the screen flashes to a camper who seemingly went off-course and disappeared.

Ackles, who plays the new sheriff, is also introduced in the trailer saying, “Wow, look at this. Gang’s all here,” referring to our leading crime-solvers Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) and Cassie (Kylie Bunbury). While searching for a new case, the duo points out that there was a “backpacker [who] hasn’t checked in,” giving us a whole new mystery to get hooked on.

Following the discovery of the case, the team decides to start by meeting up with Sunny, who quickly comes off as suspicious. When the man by her side says, “Sometimes people just want to disappear,” Ackles’ character mysteriously points out, “But then there’s people who want to make them disappear.” Later on, Sunny is seen burning a missing person flyer. A little suspicious, if you ask me.

Tipping off the end of a sequence filled with action-packed mayhem, Sunny tells them, “Fun will be had, or your money back.” Maybe it was condescending? Maybe it wasn’t. We’ll just have to wait and find out when Big Sky Season 3 returns Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 10/9c on ABC and Hulu.
