Jimmy Kimmel delighted in the chance to blast Donald Trump on his late night show after the former president called him out during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday (Nov. 5). Trump, who has been stumping for conservative candidates ahead of the midterms, claimed Jimmy Kimmel Live “is practically dead,” but the late night host fired off plenty of retorts last night proving otherwise.

Kimmel, who told his audience Trump gave him a “shout-out during one of his blue collar comedy tours,” said he’s getting a hunch the former president “doesn’t like me that much.” He then rolled a clip of Trump saying none of his supporters will watch Jimmy Kimmel Live and claiming the show is dead because of it, which earned a chuckle from Kimmel.

“That’s right, our show is dead,” he said sarcastically, before quipping, “Our show is so dead he’s gonna bury it next to his ex-wife at one of his golf courses.”

He then asked, “You know what’s dead? I’ll tell you what’s dead. All those endangered animals your chinless son shot. That’s what’s dead.

“You know what’s dead?” Kimmel continued. “The look in your wife’s eyes when you beg her for sex on your birthday.”

Kimmel closed out his takedown with one more barb, telling Trump, “In January, our show will have been on for 20 years. You got kicked out after four, okay? I’m on television, you’re on the toilet at your golf club screaming at yours.”

Trump’s campaign trail comments come after Kimmel recounted an early experience with ABC executives in which they asked him to tone down his political jokes about Trump out of fear of losing conservative viewers.

Kimmel said he refused to change his material, telling Phil Rosenthal and David Wild on their Naked Lunch podcast, “I just said, if that’s what you want to do, I understand and I don’t begrudge you for it, but I’m not going to do that. So if you want somebody else to host the show, then that’s fine. That’s OK with me. I’m just not going to do it like that.”

Kimmel added, “They knew I was serious. I just couldn’t live with myself.”

And after last night’s episode, he’s certainly sticking true to his promise.

Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC. Watch Kimmel’s Trump monologue in the video above.
