Elizabeth Chambers, Armie Hammer’s Ex-Wife, Tapped to Host Investigation Discovery Series About Toxic Relationships

TV host and journalist Elizabeth Chambers, who was married to Armie Hammer for 10 years, is set to host and executive produce a series about toxic and traumatic relationships for Investigation Discovery.

A source familiar with the untitled series told Variety that Hammer will not be mentioned. Instead, Chambers will help tell the stories of others.

The network revealed that the show will navigate “the complexities of toxic and traumatic relationships by investigating and shedding light on long-held secrets, generational trauma and deep-rooted psychological issues,” per Deadline. Their goal? To “empower victims with control of their own narratives.”

While Hammer was not mentioned in the press release, the network cited Chambers’ “unique empathy” as one of the reasons why she fits the role.

“We’re big admirers of Elizabeth and know that this new series will resonate with our passionate true crime audience,” Jason Sarlanis, President of Turner Networks, ID & HLN, Linear and Streaming, said in a statement, per Deadline. “Elizabeth brings a unique empathy to help elevate victim’s voices which perfectly aligns with ID’s mission to use its platform to share powerful stories of hope, resilience and survival.”

Late last year, Discovery+ released House of Hammer, which explored the abuse allegations against Hammer. After he and Chambers split, multiple women came out accusing the actor of sexual and emotional abuse as well as cannibalistic fetishes.

In a September 2022 interview with E! News, Chambers, who revealed she’s in “constant communication” with the father of her two children, said Hammer has “been focused on his healing,” before opening up about her thoughts on the docuseries.

“It was obviously heartbreaking on so many levels and very painful,” she said. “But at the same time, it exists. The past is the past and all we can do is take this as a moment to learn and listen, and hopefully process and heal in every capacity.”
