Kwame Appiah from Love Is Blind is the subject of the internet’s latest sleuthing. The troubled contestant has previously been accused of lying his way through the Netflix reality hit, but now, some suspect that his family on the series isn’t real.

Last week, viewers met Kwame’s sister, Barbara, and immediately fell in love with her supportive attitude and energetic personality. Some even claimed that she’s “the best part” of the contestant.  However, recent internet talk suggests that she isn’t who she claims to be.

On Monday (April 10), culture writer Ada Enechi, wrote, “TikTok is saying Kwame hired a random Ghanaian woman to play his sister and tbh that wouldn’t surprise me.”

The comment section of the tweet immediately lit up with people agreeing, citing that the family’s interactions appeared “so formal” and other odd moments.

Previously, Kwame was accused of staging phone call with his mother during the show and viewers were confused when he invited someone from the pods to his suit fitting, rather than a real-life friend.

Plus, there’s the fact that he is participating in a season for contestants in Seattle despite living in Portland, and he has repeatedly told his fiancé, Chelsea, that he doesn’t want to relocate to the area. Netflix, what gives?

One TikTok user suspected that Kwame is lying about his family and may already be secretly married. A viewer agreed, commenting, “I don’t think those are his siblings or that [he] even talked to his mom on the phone.”

Fans also believe that Kwame previously starred in a season of Married at First Sight after a viral TikTok from last week. The clip showed a man who resembles Kwame appearing in an episode of the Lifetime reality show. “Not Kwame on Married at First Sight,” the caption read. Both shows are created by Kinetic Content and many comments suspected that there is overlap in casting.

At this point, we still have many questions about Kwame and the vetting process for Love Is Blind, but we can all agree that his sister deserves an Emmy for giving us something to talk about and – potentially – for playing a role.

Love Is Blind is currently streaming on Netflix.
