This weekend marks the return of a beloved black comedy (HBO’s Barry), the premiere of a prestige drama on Apple TV+ (The Last Thing He Told Me), and the sequel to an acclaimed mini-series on Showtime (Waco: The Aftermath). New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: The Last Thing He Told Me, Waco: The Aftermath, Barry (Season 4) + More

Jennifer Garner fans have plenty to celebrate in 2023. Watching her do ‘shrooms on the latest season of Party Down was a real delight, a real 180 from her role in Apple TV+’s The Last Thing He Told Me. In that new show, Garner plays a frantic wife searching for her missing husband who seems like maybe he’s not the man she thinks he is. Over on HBO, Bill Hader reprises his role as Barry, the hitman who really doesn’t want to be a hitman in the final season of Barry. In addition to starring in the show, Hader directed every episode this season, too. And on Showtime, the new five-part series Waco: The Aftermath depicts the fallout from one of the weirdest and most controversial tragedies in America in recent years.

New on Apple TV+ April 14: The Last Thing He Told Me

Have you watched a TV show this year? You have? Well, chances are, Reese Witherspoon produced it! From Daisy Jones & The Six to Tiny Beautiful Things to My Kind of Country, Witherspoon and her production company been supplying audiences with tons of content this spring, and The Last Thing He Told Me is her latest project. Based on the novel by Laura Dave, the limited series stars Jennifer Garner as a woman named Hannah whose husband mysteriously disappears. To find him, she seeks the help of her stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice), but Bailey wants nothing to do with Hannah.

New On HBO April 16: Barry (Season 4)

It’s the end of the road for Barry. The series, which stars Bill Hader as hitman-turned-acting-student Barry Berkman, is officially ending after season 4. With Barry currently in jail after being ratted out by his former acting teacher Cousineau (Henry Winkler), the final episodes in his story will tie up all the loose ends that were left dangling in season 3. Will Barry get out of jail? Will Sally realize she has a thirst for blood now that she’s killed someone? The final season will consist of 8 episodes, and the series finale of Barry will air June 4.

New on Showtime April 14: Waco: The Aftermath

Showtime’s new limited series Waco: The Aftermath serves as a sequel to the 2018 series Waco, which depicted the 1993 standoff between the U.S. government and the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas. The new show, which stars Michael Shannon, John Leguizamo, and Shea Whigham, focuses on the trials of the surviving members of the Branch Davidians and the repercussions of the tragic standoff that killed 86 people.
