Dreams really do come true. Kristen Stewart just announced she is co-writing a “stoner girl comedy” with her fiancée, actress and screenwriter Dylan Meyer.

“Me and Dylan are writing a movie,” Stewart told actress Rachel Sennot during a discussion for Interview. “It’s a stoner girl comedy, and it’s really fucking stupid. I think you’ll like it.”

Stewart told the young actress she was “so lucky” to be working on films with her close friends at such a young age. “God, that’s so aspirational. It takes a long time to get to that point,” she said.

Stewart later revealed that she and Meyer are launching their own production company.

“The reason I even thought of this is because our producer is our best friend. We’re starting a company,” she said. “I’ve worked with so many people that I didn’t know and that I didn’t like for so long. It was definitely valuable, but also, fuck that.”

Meyer’s previous writing credits include the 2021 comedy Moxie starring Amy Poehler, Miss 2059 and XOXO.

For now, Stewart has been working on making her directorial debut with The Chronology of Water, which she co-wrote with Andy Mingo based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s powerful memoir of the same name. Imogen Poots is attached to lead with Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss set to produce.

The film has been in development since 2018, but the Spencer actress has been a major advocate for getting the project off the ground.

“She’s in my blood, and I knew that before I met [Yuknavitch],” Stewart said in 2018. “My only goal is just to finish the screenplay and hire a really spectacular actor: I’m going to write the best fucking female role. I’m going to write a role that I want so badly but that I’m not going to play.”

The Chronology of Water was reportedly in pre-production in March 2022, though some reports published later that year claimed there were some issues securing financing for the film.

A release date has not yet been announced for The Chronology of Water.
