Bridgerton fans are still recovering from the Season 3 first look photos star Nicola Coughlan shared at last weekend’s TUDUM celebration in Brazil, but we’ve already got more to swoon about. ET finally dropped their interview with Coughlan from the global Netflix event and she confirms that Bridgerton Season 3 will have all the “spicy” sex scenes fans love from the original novel. Coughlan also teased that her character Penelope and long-time crush Colin (Luke Newton) might very well have the most “romantic” season of Bridgerton yet — even if she and Newton constantly got the giggles shooting their love scenes.

Netflix’s hit show Bridgerton is based on the popular Julia Quinn series that puts a raunchy spin on Regency romance. The seven Bridgerton siblings are tasked with making matches in a society that prioritizes wealth, reputation, and connection over true love. In Seasons 1 and 2, we watched as Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) discovered that she loved the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) in spite of their faux courtship and as eldest Bridgerton brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) finally admitted his passion for his betrothed’s older sister Kate (Simone Ashley). In Bridgerton Season 3, it’s time for middle brother Colin to realize that Penelope Featherington is not only a catch, but the woman of his dreams.

It’s a romance that Bridgerton Season 3 stars Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton knew about as far back as the early days of Season 1, but they never gave it serious thought.

“Luke and I had read the books at the beginning in Season 1 and it was funny to us. We were like, ‘Ha ha! Imagine if we have to kiss and do this stuff? Ahaha!’ And then when Season 3 came around we were like, ‘Oh god!'” Coughlan said. “It’s like, it’s my friend and I have to kiss my friend and you can’t pretend to kiss him. You have to really kiss him.”

Simone Ashley has also teased that Season 3 is “hotter than ever” and Coughlan confirmed this to ET.

“It’s a spicy one. It’s a lot of the stuff from the books that the fans expect,” she said before recalling the giggle fits she and Newton had during one beautifully romantic scene in particular.

In fact, when asked to describe the new season in one word, Coughlan said, “Romantic…

“Season 1 was about passion. Season 2 is about longing. Season 3 is romance. It’s so romantic!”

Bridgerton readers can now go off imagining specific carriage rides and hook ups in front of mirrors from Quinn’s fourth book, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, at their leisure.
