You could say Outlander Season 7 is about to hit a major turning point. Last week’s all-new episode of Outlander ended with Jamie (Sam Heughan) laying lifelessly on a battlefield and little Jem (Blake Johnston Miller) being kidnapped by Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton). It seems that Brianna’s (Sophie Skelton) workmate figured out the family’s time-traveling secret, which puts everyone — but especially Jem — in danger. So Jamie’s potentially dead, William (Charles Vandervaart) has swiftly learned the true cost of war, and the only trace of Jem that Roger (Richard Rankin) and Buck MacKenzie (Diarmaid Murtagh) can find is a Tufty Club pin on the kid’s scarf. What horror! What drama! Whatever will happen next? Well, what does Starz‘s official Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 preview tease for the mid-season finale??

The Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 “Turning Points” trailer shows Claire (Caitriona Balfe) discovering her beloved Jamie’s body on the battlefield and later warning Young Ian (John Bell) that another Battle of Saratoga is coming. We see Roger break the awful news to Brianna that Jem’s been taken through the stones — and he intends to time travel back in time to find his son. There’s more, too, like brooding shots of William, a tender goodbye, a battle raging, and Young Ian getting close to a certain cute Quaker…

Can’t wait for Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 “Turning Points” to premiere on Starz? Let’s break down the preview for Starz’s Outlander Season 7 Mid-Season Finale…

What’s in the Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 Preview?

The Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 preview opens on a militia man drumming away at camp before Claire surveys the bodies strewn across the battlefield in Saratoga. She turns over Jamie’s body and he is both bloodied up and unconscious. Claire looks horrified and as if she’s holding back tears.

Then we see Roger and Buck returning to Lallybroch in 1981. “Rob took Jem through the stones,” Roger tells Brianna, who bursts into tears. “We found this,” he says showing the fateful scarf with the Tufty Club pin. “What do we do?!” Brianna asks off-screen as we cut to Roger grabbing a crate in the Lallybroch main hall. Brianna and Buck look on as Roger says resolutely, “I’m going after them.”

We cut back to 1777. There’s a shot of soldiers prepping at the British camp before Young Ian asks Claire, “There’s going to be another battle, isn’t there?” Claire says, “I think so.” We then see a line of Redcoats firing off muskets before cutting to Daniel Morgan (Barry O’Connor) firing a shot in the woods.

We then see Roger and Brianna approach Craigh na Dun in 1981. “I will find him, Bri,” Roger says in voice over. There’s a shot of Roger, in a 18th century coat, and Brianna, in modern attire, embracing. “I’ll bring him home,” Roger tells Brianna before she kisses him..

A title card says “DON’T MISS” before a dramatic shot of Claire sitting, probably in a tent, and a shot of William walking through a camp setting at night. The next title card finally tells us what we shouldn’t miss: “THE MID-SEASON FINALE.”

Then for all you Hunter heads out there, we see Ian take Rachel’s (Izzy Meikle-Small) hand. We then see his hand is on her waist and the two are drawing close, as if they are about to kiss. Someone, we think Ian, but it could be Jamie, says, “Sorry it has come to this” before another shot of Redcoats on the battlefield. One of Morgan’s riflemen clobbers a Redcoat in close quarters. Brianna is tearing up at Craigh na Dun. Then we see Ian in his warpaint in the midst of battle. And the final shot of the preview is of Claire picking up a sword — a weapon we’ve only really seen William fight with this season — and holding it out in self-defense.

The final title card simply says “OUTLANDER. FRIDAY.” That would lead you to believe that Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 “Turning Points” will premiere this Friday, August 4…but it’s not!

What is the Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 Release Date?

Excited to catch an all-new episode of Outlander this Friday? Well, TOO BAD! Because Starz is delaying the premiere of Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 for a Men in Kilts Season 1 marathon on Friday, August 4.

That’s right. Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 doesn’t premiere until Friday, August 11. You’re going to have to wait a whole extra week to find out if Jamie is dead!

(Note: the official Starz site’s episode description for Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 “Turning Points” says, “Jamie fights in the pivotal Second Battle of Saratoga” so I think he lives.)

If that’s too long of a wait for you, then you’re not going to like hearing when the next episode of Outlander Season 7 will premiere after Episode 8…

How Many Episodes are in Outlander Season 7?

There are sixteen episodes total in Outlander Season 7. However Starz has split the season into two halves. The first half wraps up with Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 “Turning Points.” Then it’s going to be at least a five month gap before Outlander Season 7 Episode 9 premieres in early 2024.

So Outlander Season 7 Episode 8 is the last new Outlander until 2024.
