Netflix just released the trailer for Maestro, a drama surrounding critically-acclaimed composer Leonard Bernstein (played by Bradley Cooper) and his relationship with his wife Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein (Carey Mulligan).

The trailer, which features scenes in both black and white and color, begins with Leonard and Felicia sitting back-to-back in a field, as the two play a game in which Leonard must guess the number that Felicia is “sending” to him.

“How long do we have to do this for?” Leonard asks.

“Oh, we need to build up a very strong connection,” Felicia replies.

The film, which tells the lifelong love story of the man behind musical masterpieces such as West Side Story and his soulmate, is perfectly timed for two different holiday releases — first, it will debut in select theaters just ahead of Thanksgiving weekend on Nov. 20, and then will ultimately be released on Netflix on Dec. 20, just in time for Christmas.

The film will mark Cooper’s directorial follow-up to the 2018 adaptation of A Star is Born. Cooper co-wrote the script with The Post screenwriter Josh Singer, and is producing the film alongside big-time names Martin Scorcese and Steven Spielberg.

Because of its release timing, Maestro will be eligible for next year’s Oscars ceremony — and because Cooper is starring, directing, producing and co-writing the film, he could nab up to four Oscar noms. The actor was snubbed the last time he was up for the Academy Award, losing Best Director in 2019 for his work on A Star Is Born.
