7 Shows like ‘The Office’ to Watch Now That It’s Off Netflix

Where to Stream:

The Office

Powered by Reelgood

As they welcomed 2021, Netflix users had to say goodbye to one of the most popular series on the platform. It’s been over two years since The Office, the cult NBC sitcom, left streaming on Netflix, leaving users to echo the words of Dunder Mifflin Boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell): “This. Just. Stinks.”

Thankfully, it’s not all bad news. With its Netflix exit, The Office found a new streaming home on Peacock, where all nine seasons are currently available to watch. You’ll need a Peacock subscription, of course (the service is no longer free), but you can also watch so-called “Superfan” episodes, which include deleted scenes and bonus material.

But if you’re sticking with Netflix and still want to fill the Dunder Mifflin-sized gap in your streaming habits, we’ve got you covered. If you’re missing The Office, check out our list of TV shows like The Office on Netflix to watch next.

While you won’t find The Office on Netflix anymore, you will find this hit NBC comedy featuring Kristen Bell, Ted Danson and more talented stars. The Good Place, which comes from The Office producer and writer Michael Schur, follows residents like Eleanor Shellstrop (Bell) in the titular Good Place, a version of the afterlife where people go when they die. There’s just one problem — not long after Eleanor arrives, she realizes she isn’t actually supposed to be there.

If you’re looking for another workplace comedy like The Office, Netflix has got you covered with Space Force. Steve Carell stars as General Mark Naird, the newly appointed leader of the U.S. Space Force. It’s up to General Naird and his team to help establish the latest branch of the Armed Forces, but it’s not quite as easy as he hopes it will be. Space Force also stars John Malkovich, Ben Shwartz, Diana Silvers, and Lisa Kudrow. It was canceled after two seasons, but hey, they exist! Go, enjoy.

Community, Dan Harmon’s college sitcom, boasts an all-star cast and plenty of laughs. Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, and Chevy Chase star as members of a study group at Greendale Community College. Like The Office, Community built a cult following over the years, and even had such a strong fanbase that it was brought back for a sixth and final season.

If you’re into cult comedies, don’t miss Arrested Development. The Mitchell Hurwitz created sitcom follows the messy Bluth family, a crew of wealthy Californians whose lives are turned upside down when George Bluth Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor) is sent to prison. With his father locked away, it’s up to Michael (Jason Bateman) to try reign in his family’s spending and keep his father’s business going, all while taking care of his own son, George Michael (Michael Cera).

The Office may no longer be on Netflix, but you can check out another classic NBC comedy: Seinfeld! Starring, who else, Jerry Seinfeld, these four… Friends? Hilarious acquaintances? Defined an entire generation of catchphrases, from “shrinkage” to “these pretzels are making me thirsty.” Put on an episode and you’ll forget Dunder-Mifflin ever existed!

'Suits'

Not a comedy, but Suits is set in an office, just like The Office! And they wear suits, just like in… Well, you know. The former USA Network show is seeing an enormous resurgence on Netflix right now, as of this writing, and a large part of it is the easiest bingeability — and rebingeability — of the series. Just like the former NBC comedy, once you start Suits it’ll be nothing but blue skies.

'The Mindy Project'

The Mindy Project is due to return with new episodes on Hulu on Tuesday, April 12.

Okay, one more classic TV comedy. The Mindy Project also at least in part takes place in an office, but the real draw here is the romance. If you like Pam and Jim, you’re also gonna love Mindy (Mindy Kaling) and Danny (Chris Messina). Get ready to fall in love, and laughter, again.
