The Force wasn’t quite with NSYNC when their scene was cut from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. The iconic boyband — who filmed as Jedi warriors for the 2002 flick — reflected on the crossover that never was while appearing on the most recent episode of Hot Ones.

In a game of Truth or Dare, host Sean Evans asked Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone if it’s true that they filmed a scene for Star Wars that was ultimately eliminated from the final edit. With Timberlake noting that they’re getting into the “nitty-gritty” and Bass advising him to “ask these guys,” it was clear there is still some resentment over the situation.

Chasez admitted that only a “few” of them were asked to be a part of the movie, which upset Timberlake and Bass at the time — who were the only two left out.

“I think I remember us getting a call that was like, ‘You’re never gonna believe what happened. We were Jedis.’ Me and Lance were so butt-hurt,” Timberlake recalled, before Bass gleefully added, “But they got cut out anyway.”

According to Chasez, they had to learn “sword choreography” to use the lightsabers, while Fatone revealed that the “dumbest thing” they did was make the lightsaber sound effects with their voices as they were filming.

Unfortunately, the scene didn’t make it to the big screen as Star Wars fans allegedly weren’t happy with the “Bye Bye Bye” singers’ cameo.

“Didn’t the Star Wars fans go crazy and that’s why they edited it out?” Bass asked. “Yeah, they did not like that.”

In other space news, Bass also confirmed that he was “trained as a cosmonaut, certified by NASA and [was] once in a position to be the youngest person in history to travel to outer space.” While reflecting on his training experience, which took place in Russia, he described it as “intense.”

“At first I thought it was a joke that they wanted me to do it, but then I realized quickly that it wasn’t,” he said. “So I went over there, trained for half a year, became a cosmonaut and a week before my launch, everything gets canceled over insurance because, you know, Hollywood.”

As Timberlake quickly pointed out, space simply doesn’t seem to be in the cards for Bass.

“Lance didn’t get to be a Jedi and get cut out,” Timberlake joked. “He had to go all the way to Russia, train to be a cosmonaut and got cut out.”
