Is A24’s ‘Dicks: The Musical’ Streaming on Netflix or HBO Max?

From the producers of The Greatest Showman and the director of Borat comes Dicks: The Musical — a new musical comedy coming to theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this new flick!

Based on off-Broadway musical Fucking Identical Twins, this film follows two businessmen who discover that they are long-lost identical twins. In their own NSFW twist on The Parent Trap, the duo plots to reunite their divorced parents.

So, where can you watch Dicks: The Musical? Is it on Prime Video? What about Netflix?

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:

WHEN WILL DICKS: THE MUSICAL BE STREAMING? WILL DICKS: THE MUSICAL BE ON PRIME VIDEO?

While a digital release date for Dicks: The Musical has not yet been announced, we can make an estimate about when it will land on digital platforms like Prime Video based on another A24 movie. Talk to Me, which was released in theaters on July 28, became available to rent or purchase on Sept. 12 — about 45 days after it debuted.

If Dicks: The Musical follows the same trajectory, you might be able to watch from the comfort of your home as early as mid-November 2023.

UPDATE 11/21/23: Dicks: The Musical officially became available to rent or purchase on digital platforms on Friday, Nov. 10.

WILL DICKS: THE MUSICAL BE ON HBO MAX?

UPDATE 12/6/23: Yes, Dicks: The Musical will be on Max (previously known as HBO Max) as the result of a new multiyear deal between Warner Bros. Discovery and A24 that gives the company access to all of the indie studio’s theatrical releases.

While there is no official streaming release date yet, Blue Beetle, another Warner Bros. movie, was released in theaters on Aug. 18 and didn’t make its way to Max until Nov. 17 — about three months after it debuted. If Dicks: The Musical follows the same trajectory, it’s possible we won’t be able to stream it until late January 2024.

UPDATE 2/21/24: Dicks: The Musical is currently available to stream on Max.

WILL DICKS: THE MUSICAL BE ON NETFLIX?

No, Dicks: The Musical will not be on Netflix. However, it is possible that it will make it to the streaming giant eventually seeing as Netflix was once home to other A24 movies like Uncut Gems. Until then, you’ll just have to head out to theaters or wait until it becomes available on digital.
