Are you ready for so much blood in Invincible Season 2? The Prime Video series is coming back for its second season, and now, thanks to the show’s New York Comic Con (NYCC) panel, we’ve seen a lot more about the plot of the episodes — and oodles and oodles of blood.

In the nearly two-minute-long look, we’re picking up after the massive twist from Season 1. Spoilers if you don’t want to know, though it’s been two years since the last season aired so deal with it. Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), the animated series’ greatest superhero, is actually a world-conquering alien. Not only that, but he specifically bred his son Mark, aka Invincible (Steven Yeun) to join him in that world conquest.

After beating Mark within an inch of his life, Omni-Man paused before the killing blow and instead left the planet. In the wake of that Mark is now wrestling with the knowledge that he could turn out to be just like his Dad.

…And in fact, it looks like that might happen, thanks to the introduction of a new villain right out of the comics by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley: Angstrom Levy. Voiced by Sterling K. Brown, Levy has the ability to travel the multiverse, something that brings him directly into conflict with Invincible. And though you don’t get to see it in the trailer, an encounter with our title character leaves Angstrom horrifically mutilated, and with a bone to pick.

The stinger of the trailer, though, is a wrecked Earth that’s clearly been conquered by Invincible. You can probably figure this out for yourself given the context, but chances are this is an alternate Earth, not a dark future of the series. Still, given the circumstances, Mark is about to come face to face with his worst nightmare.

Invincible is co-showrun by Kirkman and Simon Racioppa. In addition to Yeun and Simmons, the series stars the voices of Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, Chris Diamantopoulos, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Seth Rogen.

The show returns on November 3, with new episodes airing weekly for four weeks. The final four episodes of Season 2 will stream in early 2024 on Prime Video. you can check out the full trailer above.
