On yesterday’s episode of Saturday Night Live, Academy Award winning actor Christopher Walken made a surprise cameo. Not only did 80-year-old Walken appear alongside Mikey Day’s President Joe Biden as the spirit of Halloween in the episode’s cold open, but he was also given the opportunity to fix a past mispronunciation.

Walken is no stranger to SNL, having hosted seven times between 1990 to 2008. But it was his February 22, 2003 hosting gig that recently came back into the spotlight when the star’s mispronunciation of musical guest Foo Fighters went viral following band member Dave Grohl‘s hilarious retelling of the incident. Walken is well known for the unique cadence and rhythm of his speech, which was put on wonderful display when he emphasized the wrong word while introducing the “Foo FIGHTers” on that 2003 episode of SNL.

Therefore, it was a real treat to see Walken return for last night’s episode that featured comedian Nate Bargatze as host and Foo Fighters as musical guest. While it’s typically the host’s role to introduce the night’s musical talent, Bargatze graciously stepped aside before the band’s first song to allow Walken the opportunity to finally perfect his pronunciation of Foo Fighters on the SNL stage. What’s for sure is no matter how he says words, Christopher Walken is an utter delight and his unexpected appearance on SNL was a welcome one, indeed.
