Jamie Lynn Spears Abruptly Exits ‘I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here’ — The Third Reality Show She Has Quit This Year

Jamie Lynn Spears might not be cut out for the world of reality competition shows. According to ITV, the actress has dropped out of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here — marking the third series she has exited this year.

Ahead of Wednesday night’s (Nov. 29) episode — which was also Spears’ final appearance on the show — a spokesperson for the network revealed in a statement that she decided to leave for medical reasons.

“Jamie Lynn Spears has left I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds,” the statement read, per Variety. “She’s been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities.”

Spears later opened up about her “once in a lifetime experience” in an Instagram post.

“I don’t even know where to start when trying to describe what an incredibly special time and place I had with some of the absolute best humans I have ever met and consider family now,” she wrote this morning. “THANK YALL for welcoming me into your living rooms night after night, and for supporting me through all the highs and lows. I’m am so grateful for this show, and all of the wonderful people apart of it!”

She continued, “I will be taking some time to recover and spend time with my family, but looking forward to sharing all about my journey on @imacelebrity with everyone! LOVE YALLLL.”

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here is a Survivor-like series that plops a group of celebrities in the Australian jungle. To win, they must face the various challenges of the rainforest in order to bring back food and avoid getting voted off by viewers.

Spears’ sudden exit wasn’t completely unexpected. During her final episode, she expressed her desire to go back home to her family.

“I do not want to be here. Fuck this,” she said, per the Los Angeles Times. “I just want to see my kids, that’s it. I’ll stay out here with these fricking critters, just let me see them.”

However, she later walked back her desire to go home, telling viewers, “I want to try and suck it up so I can be a better campmate.”

While appearing on the show, the Zoey 101 star often opened up about her turbulent relationship with her older sister, Britney Spears.

“She’s a good big sister. She is. I love her,” Jamie Lynn told her co-star Sam Thompson on a recent episode, per Us Weekly. “Me and her throw down. The world’s seen that. I’ve learned to stop talking about it publicly, but you know what? Families fight. Listen — we just do it better than most.”

She added, “Me and her both have had a very complicated upbringing. We’ve had very complicated circumstances and we both had to deal with them in different ways. And sometimes we took it out on each other when perhaps we shouldn’t have.”

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here is the third competition show Jamie Lynn has left this year. In January, she voluntarily withdrew from the first season of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test — and in October, she was voted off of Dancing with the Stars during the second week.
