Scott Disick is telling us how he really felt when he first signed on to film Keeping Up with the Kardashians more than 15 years ago. According to the reality star, he had his doubts about how successful the show would actually become.

On the Season 4 finale of The Kardashians, the family gathers around to celebrate Disick’s 40th birthday. While reflecting on how long it’s been since he entered their lives, Kris Jenner notes that he’s been there since “Episode 1, Season 1” of KUWTK, which aired in 2007.

“I was like, ‘This show’s going nowhere,'” Disick recalls.

Little did he know at the time, the Kardashian empire was just getting started. Keeping Up with the Kardashians ultimately lasted for 20 seasons on E! before getting rebooted as The Kardashians on Hulu. And he was largely to thank for that!

The early seasons of the family’s reality show placed a lot of attention on Disick’s relationship with Kourtney Kardashian. The two were already dating when the show started; and throughout the years, fans witnessed all the highs (like the births of their three children) and the lows (like Disick’s substance abuse) of their nine-year relationship.

Despite their breakup in 2015, Disick has remained an integral part of the show — and, more importantly, the family.

“When we first met, you and I definitely had tension,” Khloé Kardashian says. “But I really think it’s the most genuine, real relationship. It didn’t start fake, it didn’t start forced. I was really just determined to not like you. And you came into my townhouse and took up my space and I was like, ‘This guy. Get out of our little place.'”

While longtime fans can remember their constant feuding, the duo has come a long way since Khloé slapped him in the face back in Season 4 of KUWTK.

“Now, I love you genuinely. I consider you my brother when I talk about you to anyone and everyone,” she continues. “I love you, I adore you, I want the best for you. You will find the best and the best will find you because that’s all you deserve is greatness and I love you.”

Even Kim Kardashian chimes in to sing his praises, saying, “I have known Scott for 19 years. Scott has supported me through thick and thin because that’s who you are,” to which Disick jokes, “I love you thick and thin.”

The first four seasons of The Kardashians are currently streaming on Hulu.
