Jeffrey Wright, Sterling K. Brown and Issa Rae star in the buzzy new satire American Fiction, which is coming to theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this new flick!

As Cord Jefferson‘s feature directorial debut, American Fiction follows a frustrated novelist who gets thrust into fame after jokingly penning an “outlandish ‘Black’ book,” which incidentally “propels him to the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain.”

So where can you watch American Fiction? Will be it be on Prime Video? What about Netflix?

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:

WHERE TO WATCH AMERICAN FICTION:

As of now, the only way to watch American Fiction is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on Friday, Dec. 15. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, YouTube and Apple, or become available to stream for free on Amazon.

WILL AMERICAN FICTION BE ON AMAZON PRIME VIDEO?

Since American Fiction is being distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, it will eventually make its way to Amazon Prime Video. While there is no set release date just yet, we can make an estimate based on a previous movie released by the company. Saltburn will join the streaming platform on Dec. 22 — exactly five weeks after it premiered in theaters. If American Fiction follows the same trajectory, it could become available to stream on Prime Video as early as Jan. 19, 2024.

WILL AMERICAN FICTION BE ON HBO MAX?

No, American Fiction will not be on Max since it’s not a Warner Bros. movie. The platform — previously known as HBO Max — also no longer does direct-to-streaming releases. Instead, they’ve implemented a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the Max release.

WILL AMERICAN FICTION BE ON NETFLIX?

No, American Fiction will not be on Netflix — at least, not any time soon. In the meantime, you’ll just have to head out to theaters or wait until it becomes available on Prime Video.
