If you’re looking to catch up on 2023 films that you missed, you should know that Priscilla is releasing on digital this weekend, after seven weeks in theaters.

Written and directed by Sofia Coppola, this critically acclaimed biopic is based on the 1985 memoir Elvis and Me by Priscilla Presley, aka the woman who married the king of rock and roll, Elvis. Cailee Spaeny stars as Priscilla, opposite Jacob Elordi as Elvis. The film chronicles Priscilla’s early years, meeting her future husband, their troubled relationship and marriage, and eventual divorce.

Though Priscilla hasn’t made quite the same splash as other biopics this year like Oppenheimer and Napoleon, the film was well-liked by critics, who praised the film for a nuanced look at a complicated woman. If you missed the movie when it was theaters, now you have a chance to watch it from the comfort of your own home. Read on to learn where to watch Priscilla online, and when to expect Priscilla to be streaming on HBO Max.

Where to watch the Priscilla movie on streaming:

Beginning on Friday, December 15, you will be able to purchase a digital copy of Priscilla on platforms like Amazon Prime, Vudu, Apple TV, Google Play, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to buy the film, but on Amazon the film cost $24.99 to pre-order a digital copy.

Priscilla is not currently available to stream on any subscription-based services, but the film will be coming to HBO’s Max shortly, thanks to the new deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery, which will bring A24’s previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the streaming service Max, and will include Priscilla.

When will Priscilla be streaming on HBO Max?

The Priscilla HBO Max release date has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess as to when you can expect to see Priscilla on Max. The A24 deal is a “Pay-1 deal,” which means A24 movies will start streaming on Max in the “Pay 1 window,” meaning that Max will be the first “TV channel” to pay for the rights to Priscilla, after the film has been released on digital and home media.

The time period for this window, following the movie’s release in theaters, has shortened drastically in the last few years and varies by title. One recent A24 title, The Whale, began streaming on Showtime in August 2023, about nine months after its release, under the A24 deal with Showtime. If Priscilla follows a similar release strategy, you’ll see it on Max around July 2024.

However, it’s possible that Priscilla will be on Max sooner than that, given that the studio will want more eyes on the film ahead of awards season. We’ll just have to wait and see.
