After nearly two weeks of trial, Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and guilty of harassment. The actor’s sentencing is set to take place on Feb. 6.

In a little over four hours of deliberation, the six-person Manhattan jury further decided that Majors was not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Creed III star faced four charges of assault, aggravated harassment and harassment after he was arrested on March 25 following his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari’s allegations of domestic violence.

Through the criminal trial — which was brought on by the state of New York — we learned that Majors had called 911 after finding Jabbari asleep on the floor in their apartment. He was later arrested when law enforcement found injuries on the dancer, whom he had met in 2021 on the set of  Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

According to Jabbari, they had gotten into a fight earlier that day when she saw a text message from another woman on the actor’s phone. She claimed that in trying to retrieve his phone, Majors grabbed her arm and right hand, twisted her arm and hit her in the head, per THR.

Majors pled not guilty to all of the charges. His defense attorney alleged during the trial that Jabbari was actually the one who got physical with him in the vehicle, calling her a “liar” who “bends reality” in her closing statement, per Variety.

While the Marvel star didn’t testify, Jabbari tearfully detailed their tumultuous two-year relationship to the jury. In one instance, she said she “felt scared” of him after he became angry with her for bringing up an ex-boyfriend. And in an audio recording of a September 2022 argument, he can be heard demanding that Jabbari act more like Coretta Scott King or Michelle Obama.

“I’m a great man. A great man,” he said in the recording, per Variety. “I do great things for my culture and for the world. The woman that supports me needs to be a great woman.”

Other incriminating text messages Jabbari presented in court appear to show Majors admitting to using physical violence against her. The text exchange happened about six months before he was arrested for the incident in the car.

“I fear you have no perspective of what could happen if you go to the hospital,” Majors’ text messages to Jabbari read, per People. “They will ask you questions, and as I don’t think you actually protect us, it could lead to an investigation even if you do lie, and they suspect something.”

Jabbari responded, “I will tell the doctor I bumped my head if I go. I’m going to give it one more day, but I can’t sleep and I need some stronger painkillers. That’s all: why would I tell them what really happened when it’s clear I want to be with you?”

Majors faces up to a year in jail, but could also receive probation, according to Variety.
