Is ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ A Go?! Producers Appear To Be Quietly Casting ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Spinoff

Good news, Bachelor Nation! It looks like our Golden Dreams could be coming true after all!

Though ABC has yet to officially greenlight a Golden Bachelor spinoff, which would give one special senior woman the chance to date 20+ senior men, it appears ABC has been quietly casting The Golden Bachelorette online. A visit to bachelornation.com, the official website from franchise producers, reveals casting calls for “senior men and women looking for love” alongside The Golden Bachelor logo AND an exciting new logo for The Golden Bachelorette.

Those who visit the site are given the option to apply or nominate someone, and applications consist of dozens of personal questions about everything from vaccination status, net worth, past relationships, and family members to political views, religion, social media presence, and more. The Golden Bachelor/Bachelorette application reads: “Production is scheduled for this summer. Do you have any conflicts during June-August 2024?” So does that mean The Golden Bachelorette could start filming in just a few months?! Also of note, the final question on the application reads, “If you are male, did you watch the Golden Bachelor? If yes, which of the women did you find yourself most attracted to and why. You can list more than one.” Is this how they’re CHOOSING The Golden Bachelorette lead? Or have they already selected a Golden Bachelor alum to be our first Golden Gal and are simply using these responses to find the best men to cast? Jesse Palmer, I just want to talk!

Following the early, overwhelming success of The Golden Bachelor, Decider made an extremely compelling case for The Golden Bachelorette earlier back in October. Heck, we even chose eight contenders we’d love to see follow in Gerry’s shoes — with Leslie Fhima now claiming the top spot, of course. When chatting with Golden Spouses Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist in December 2023 ahead of their Golden Wedding, the couple also assured Decider they’re all for one of the Golden Bachelor girls getting her own season in the future, too.

“It’s absolutely true that any one of these women would be perfect,” Nist said. “We want that to be special for them. I hope that happens. And yeah, we’re excited to see!”

Decider reached out to ABC reps for The Golden Bachelor to inquire about the Golden Bachelorette casting call and official status of the spin-off and will update this post with any updates. Though official age range still has to be confirmed, according to TV Insider, former Big Brother winner and two-time The Amazing Race runner-up Rachel Reilly Villegas — now a reality show casting agent — shared an Instagram post explaining that the future spinoff is searching for men ages 55 and older.

While many details remain unknown, we’re excited to finally see some hints that the second senior spinoff might actually be a go! But we’re also surprised it took this long — especially since The Golden Bachelor was so well-received by Bachelor Nation and set record ratings for the franchise.

Over the course of its eight-episode season and its recent Golden Wedding special, The Golden Bachelor helped revive a franchise that longtime fans previously described to Decider as “stale and tired.” Along the way, the groundbreaking series redefined societal views of 60 and 70-year-olds, so hopefully The Golden Bachelorette can keep the inspiring late-in-life love stories going.
