The Boys star Erin Moriarty has responded to Megyn Kelly‘s recent claims that she has undergone plastic surgery.

The star, who portrays the superhero Starlight on the Prime Video series, posted a lengthy statement to Instagram on Friday.

“This is something I truly never anticipated writing,” began Moriarty. “We’re all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things… To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner — to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified.”

During an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show podcast, which aired on January 17, Kelly spoke about plastic surgery with The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles. She referred to the practice as a “social illness” and accused Moriarty of having an “addiction” to altering her face.

“More and more young women are doing this,” Kelly said. “It’s not about an objection to plastic surgery, it’s about an obsession with turning yourself into this fake version of yourself… I find it like a sign of mental illness. I really want to get in the heads of these young girls and say, ‘Please don’t do this.'”

Kelly showed before and after images of the star, which she claimed were “relatively recent,” saying how Moriarty was a “nice, beautiful, natural gal” before and was shocked to see the latter. “I thought it was just an AI-generated face… but apparently it’s real,” she added. “She’s done this to herself.”

Moriarty clarified in her post on Friday that the “before” photo Kelly showed was not actually a recent photo.

“Megyn used a photo taken ‘a year ago’ according to her, that had in actuality been taken about a decade ago before I was of LEGAL DRINKING AGE (I’m about to turn 30) as an example (maybe do some research that would take 30 seconds),” she wrote.

As for the “after” photo Kelly displayed, Moriarty says she “got my make up done that day and it involves major contouring and I remember leaving and feeling pretty.” The actress has since deleted the photo from Instagram.

“This is becoming harassment,” Moriarty said. “This is becoming false news.” She further added that she’s only keeping her Instagram account active so that others can read her statement, but “otherwise, consider it deactivated” as she’s “horrified by the reaction, the reductive assumptions, and the aforementioned video that is a primary example of such harassment. It’s broken my heart. You’ve broken my heart.”

“Shame on you Megyn Kelly,” concluded Moriarty.

Two of Moriarty’s The Boys costars posted their support on her post. “Love you, Erin,” Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell) wrote. “F— the haters.” Chace Crawford (The Deep) also posted a red heart emoji.
