Kate Hudson has been spending the last few weeks promoting her fledgling music career now that her first single, “Talk About Love,” has dropped, but on her podcast this week, she was eager to talk about one of her first-ever movie roles that kicked off her acting career: when she was cast as a chorus singer in Home Alone 2.

On Sibling Revelry, the podcast Kate co-hosts with her brother Oliver Hudson, the two were joined by siblings Matthew Lawrence, Joey Lawrence and Andy Lawrence to talk about their careers and getting their start in show business as children.

Kate asked Joey, who appeared in dozens of TV commercials as a child, whether he still received residual checks from any of his early work, to which he replied, “Nah, not really.”

Then, Kate reminded everyone (more like surprised everyone) that one of her first movie roles ever was as an extra in Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, and she said that she receives the occasional check for her work on that film.

“I still get residuals from Home Alone 2 because I sang in the chorus,” she said. “I’m in that chorus, and then I get 10 cents every once in a while.”

“You do?” Oliver asked incredulously. The Lawrences (and all of us, really) were shocked to learn that Hudson appears in the scene where Macaulay Culkin sings a disastrous solo in a Christmas pageant chorus.

When the Lawrences heard this, one of the brothers declared “That’s like an Easter egg!” (If you’re eager to spot Kate in the film, the scene she appears in occurs around the 5:00 minute mark, though she’s difficult to spot.)

Joey joked that Kate’s residuals are more than he ever gets from his early jobs, saying, “Sometimes I get like, two cents! And I’m like, wait, doesn’t the envelope and paper cost more?”
