Bros are going to bro, I guess. Tensions were high in Love Is Blind Season 6 after two contestants joked about “bean dipping” another person.

The new season of the Netflix hit reality show premiered on Feb. 14, 2024 with six new episodes, followed by weekly releases on Wednesdays until the finale.

In the first drop of episodes, the contestants navigate their pod dates and then the couples who get engaged go on vacation in the Dominican Republic.

In Episode 6, “Feeling Uncomfy,” the five couples gather in person for the first time since leaving the pods. There are several awkward interactions throughout the evening due to the new couple dynamics, the fact that the contestants were previously all dating each other, and general feelings of jealousy.

In the final 20 minutes of the episode, AD, a 33-year-old real estate broker, joins her fiancé Clay, a 31-year-old entrepreneur, in his conversation with two other men from the pods. After some brief small talk, Jeramey reveals that his partner Laura joked that he should “bean dip” AD.

AD is shocked by the comment and Jeramey insists that Laura was setting him up for an awkward interaction. Lauren calls from another seating area, “I said, ‘Jeramey, do it when we walk in, she will literally die!”

Clay is confused by the comment and asks what “bean dip” means, to which AD explains, “Bean dip is like this titty smack. Like a fucking titty smack.” She points at Laura and says, “She smacked the fuck out of my titties.”

Clay still appears confused by the entire situation. I, too, was baffled by “bean dip,” so I decided to look it up. While it is unclear where the term originated, it has multiple definitions on Urban Dictionary that align with AD’s description. The first one reads, “Raise the underboob of a man or woman with your index and second finger.”

In the episode, Jeramey and AD repeat their comments for clarity. When AD realizes that Laura told another man to “bean dip” her, she says, “Don’t do that, that’s so crazy.” Clay echoes the sentiment.

At this point, AD excuses herself to get a drink and Laura walks over to the group of men. “Y’all are making something out of nothing,” she says. Clay unhelpfully offers, “Bean dip is crazy. That’s a crazy terminology… I’ve never heard that terminology.”

“Jeramey would take some shit and get himself in trouble,” Laura tells them before walking away to sit by AD and Brittany. “I cannot with these men, trying to make something out of nothing.” AD responds, “I mean, what the fuck though?” and speculates that Clay is upset.

“I made a simple joke, you obviously don’t just go and touch somebody else’s titty,” Laura says. “I need Clay to fucking relax.” Defending her partner, AD puts a stop to Laura’s comments. “Hold on, not relax. Telling another man to…” she rails off. “He doesn’t know the joke.”

Laura claims that Clay is making “something out of nothing,” and AD responds, “I mean, it’s nothing to you but it’s something to him.” Back to the men, Clay reassures Jeramey that he’s not upset and says he will talk to AD later.

A few moments later, Laura confronts Jeramey over the situation and they squabble in front of Chelsea, who voices that she’s turning away from them to avoid the drama. Jeramey grows upset because Laura accuses him of “starting shit,” and he voices, “I’m ready to go home.”

Social media lit up with comments about the “bean dip” situation, many of which pinpoint Laura as the person who was in the wrong for making the comment in the first place. One commentator wrote, “As a woman, why would you encourage your stranger fiancé to ‘bean dip’ another woman?”

Another expressed, “Telling your fiancé to ‘bean dip’ or flick another woman’s breast is weird like WTF Laura?”

A third person added, “It’s very distasteful how they are sexualizing AD. From Jimmy over stepping and flirting with her to the stupid bean dip ‘joke,'” partially referencing a situation that occurred earlier in the beach party where Jimmy made a comment about AD’s body to his partner Chelsea, and Chelsea voiced it aloud.

It’s quite clear that Laura was in the wrong with her objectifying comment, though I wonder why Jeramey brought it up when he knew it would cause an awkward moment. The vibes are way off with this group.
