Looking for a movie to watch tonight? We’ve got you covered. Dive into the fascinating world of Yorgos Lanthimos’s Poor Things, which won big at the 96th Academy Awards ceremony.

The movie stars Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, and Willem Dafoe in a tale about a woman with the brain of a baby who embarks on a journey of self-discovery.

Poor Things marks the second collaboration between Lanthimos and Stone, following their work in the 2018 dark comedy The Favourite.

The two have a third movie in the works called Kinds of Kindness, which will also star Poor Things‘s Dafoe and Margaret Qualley, alongside Hong Chau, Jesse Plemons, and Joe Alwyn.

With high critical and audience reception, Poor Things has been a massive hit since its premiere. The movie was also a box office success and earned $108.8 million with a $35 million budget.

With the box office numbers and the movie’s domination at award shows and in online conversation, it must sound terribly mainstream — but it isn’t. That’s why all of this is such a surprise to many. The movie is weird and sexually explicit, and oftentimes, hard to follow. It’s the type of movie where it’s simple to understand if someone says they didn’t enjoy it or that they loved it. It’s not for everybody, but it’s a damn good movie with a captivating script and brilliant acting, direction, and overall production.

Following its win, people started arguing on Twitter over the meaning of the movie, which sparked an ongoing conversation on whether viewers actually understood its messaging. With many flocking to the defense of the Lanthimos flick, it’s impossible not to want to chime into the conversation. And in order to do so, you must watch the movie first.

Poor Things isn’t going anywhere, and given the upcoming arrival of Kind of Kindness, neither is Lanthimos and Stone. It’s probably best to get on board now. Especially since the drama movie is now easy to stream on Hulu.
