This week’s new movies on VOD include Kung Fu Panda 4, the first Kung Fu Panda film to come out in 8 years, as well as the Pedro Almodovar-Yves St. Laurent Western collaboration Strange Way Of Life.

If you’ve been missing Russell Crowe, the Oscar-winner is back on screens this week with Sleeping Dogs, a mystery thriller in which Crowe plays a homicide detective with Alzheimer’s Disease who’s re-investigating the murder of a college professor that occurred a decade earlier. Karen Gillan plays the a mysterious woman who arrives with new information on the cold case and teases some long-forgotten memories out of the detective.

Strange Way of Life

Strange Way Of Life is Spanish director Pedro Almodovar’s second English-language film, one that he has defined as a “queer Western.” The short film stars Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal as two cowboys who reunite after spending 25 years apart, who grapple with their feelings for one another. The film is available this week on demand, as well as making its debut on Netflix.

Kung Fu Panda 4

In Kung Fu Panda 4, Jack Black reunites with co-stars Dustin Hoffman, Ian McShane, and James Hong for the fourth installment of the popular film franchise where Black voices Po, a panda with some serious martial arts skills. In the new installment, Po must find a successor to take over for him as the Dragon Warrior, and meets a sly fox named Zhen (Awkwafina) who accompanies him on that journey. After a month in theaters, the film is now available on demand.
