Theresa Nist Speaks Out In The Wake Of Shocking Divorce From ‘Golden Bachelor’ Gerry Turner

The Golden Bachelor alum Theresa Nist is speaking out about her shocking divorce from Gerry Turner.

After tying the knot during the Golden Wedding on Jan. 4, the two broke the news of their divorce during an April 12 Good Morning America appearance, marking their split after only three months of marriage.

Nist took to Instagram on Monday (April 15) to further address the news of her breakup with an image featuring the following Dr. Seuss quote, per Entertainment Weekly: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

In the caption, she thanked “everyone who has expressed love, support and kindness to [her],” calling those who have reached out “so kind.” She also urged “everyone else who is confused and angry and who does not understand, [to] please try to find it in your heart to understand and to try a little kindness.”

“Not just for me but for the world and for everyone you encounter,” she added.

She praised The Golden Bachelor as “one of the most incredible experiences of [her] life, something [she] never expected to happen at this point in [her] life and [she] truly thought it was going to last forever.”

“It turns out, even at the age of 70, you don’t know everything,” she wrote.

She continued, “Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned and that’s okay. I take so many positives away from this experience, most importantly and above all the incredible friends I now have in all of these amazing, wonderful women and in Angie and Jenny, Payton and Charlee, the producers, the production crew and so many of you.”

“I ask you to please stay open to all the experiences, opportunities, and love that may come your way,” she concluded. “Keep smiling, keep laughing… I will. I love you all.”

At the start of the month, a TMZ report alleged that Nist and Turner were still not living together, citing the difficulty of leaving their families who they are “super close” with. This was further highlighted during their GMA interview last week, as Turner noted “how dedicated both of [them] are to [their] families.”

“So we look at these situations and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to, to live apart,” he added.

Golden Bachelor runner-up Leslie Fhima showed Nist some love in the comments, penning the following: “I love you my friend. I’m so happy to call you that.. you’re beautiful inside and out ❤️”

Lexi Young, who competed on the most recent season of The Bachelor also commented, “You’re such a beautiful human inside & out! So lucky to have crossed paths! ❤️❤️”
