Eva Evans, a TikTok icon who made videos about living in New York City, has died. She was 29.

Evans’ sister, Lila Joy, confirmed the sad news in an Instagram post, though no cause of death has been disclosed at this time.

“Yesterday my family received news that our sweet, fabulous, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, has died,” Joy wrote. “After 24 hours, I still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so I know how unbelievable and hard to process this news will be.”

She added, “I wish I had Eva here now to refer to because she would have better words and know how to say what I don’t. I am keeping this brief, so we can plan for the next few days, but you’ll be hearing a lot more from me on how much Eva means to me and just how different the world will be without her.”

According to Joy, Evans’ family will be holding a celebration of life on Tuesday, April 23 “in the evening in lower Manhattan.”

Evans had more than 300k followers on TikTok, where she would often post about her life as a 20-something woman in the Big Apple. In her most recent video, which was posted to the platform last week, she said she was “rooting” for Jojo Siwa, who has been getting a lot of flack on social media for her edgy new look.

The content creator also co-wrote and directed the five-episode Prime Video series Club Rat, which follows a “self-absorbed influencer” who “attempts to re-enter the chaotic New York City dating scene after a candid video of her humiliating breakup goes viral,” according to the streamer’s description of the show.

Following news of Evans’ death, Uncut Gems star Julia Fox posted a tear-filled tribute to the rising star on TikTok.

“She was a TikTok star and a New York icon. I always saw her like a little sister and I knew she looked up to me,” Fox said. “She was so young. Still had so much to do in life. But she lived life to the fullest.”

The Hills alum Lo Bosworth also mourned Evans in a comment under her most recent Instagram post. She wrote, “Rest in peace, angel Eva ❤️ you were always kind to me when others couldn’t be bothered. Will never forget that kindness.”

Evans is survived by sisters Lila, Zoe and Sofi and her mother Heather, according to E! News. Her father, Matt Baumgardner, died in 2018 at the age of 63.
