It takes a lot to embarrass Joy Behar — after all, it was just yesterday when she boldly asked The View guest Ricky Martin about his foot fetish — but the co-host was quite flustered this morning, and she has Sunny Hostin to blame.

While promoting her new book Summer on Highland Beach, Hostin asked Behar to read some of the “sexy” passages from her upcoming release. After Behar quipped that she’s “the Dr. Ruth” of the table, she obliged, taking the book from Hostin’s hands and reading the first excerpt while impersonating the famed sex therapist.

“Desire hit her hard and fast. She was burning up, sparked by fire, lit by joy — really? — he’d forgotten how delicious spearmint tasted on her lips,” Behar read.

While the first preview of the book was relatively tame, Behar balked when Alyssa Farah Griffin urged her to “read the naughtier one.”

Behar replied, “Oh, it’s so bad. You really want me to read that?” But Hostin swiftly replied, “Yes, I do!” as Behar uttered, “Oh my god.”

Still, she caved (which could have had something to do with Whoopi Goldberg yelling that they had under two minutes left until a commercial break) and began to read aloud, “She finally honored his demand, cupped his ass and guided him … inside.”

When she read the last word, Behar immediately covered her face with the book and put her head to the table in embarrassment as her co-hosts cackled. Hostin was ecstatic, but EP Brian Teta was less so. When the camera cut to the beleaguered producer, he could be seen shaking his head in his hands and looking down.

“That’s embarrassing!” Behar exclaimed, but Goldberg chimed in, “Can I just point out — can I point out that she doesn’t say where she guided him. She could have guided him inside the house,” before calling out any “nasty” assumptions.

Hostin closed out the segment by calling Summer on Highland Beach “the perfect sexy Mother’s Day gift.”

If Behar’s reading intrigued you, you can now preorder the novel wherever books are sold. The View airs weekdays at 11/10 on ABC.
