More Red, White & Royal Blue is coming our way, and with its beloved stars onboard, no less!

Per Deadline, a sequel to the Prime Video romance based on Casey McQuiston’s novel of the same title has been approved at Amazon MGM Studios, with Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez reprising their roles of Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz, respectively.

The 2023 film followed the surprising romance between the formerly feuding Claremont-Diaz, the son of the U.S. president (who is played by Uma Thurman), and Henry, a British prince.

The studio shared the announcement on Instagram, with a picture of a cake in honor of the film’s iconic opening scene, topped with a “2” candle and both the Union Jack and the American flag.

“Fancy another slice?” the caption reads.

McQuiston will join director Matthew López — who marked his feature directorial and writing debut with Red, White & Royal Blue — in crafting the script for the new film, per Deadline.

While speaking with Decider in August, López praised McQuiston’s novel, deeming his film adaptation “the ultimate form of fan-fiction.”

“I love the book so much that I went and made a movie based on it!” he shared.

Meanwhile, Deadline also reports that Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Schechter Films are back producing the film alongside Michael McGrath and López, while McQuiston will executive produce.

In the wake of the exciting news, which was revealed at a Q&A following a screening of the film at the Culver Theater on Thursday night (May 9), Zakhar Perez told Forbes that he thinks “it could be a trilogy.”

“I mean, could you imagine having the first queer trilogy for young people to login and see themselves on TV?” he said. “I would love for it to be a staple for Amazon and for people to come login and go, ‘Oh, this is my happy place, this is a teachable moment, but I also am going to laugh my ass off.”

While details on the new film’s plot have yet to be disclosed, fans can watch Red, White & Royal Blue in the meantime, which is currently streaming on Prime Video.
