Steve Buscemi was walking through Manhattan in broad daylight when he was reportedly punched in the face by a random assailant.

The actor was assaulted in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday (May 8), making him the latest victim to a string of unprovoked attacks in New York City.

“Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” his publicist said in a statement to CNN. “He is OK and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of NY.”

Police were called to the scene around noon last week, according to the NYPD’s report.

“Upon arrival, officers were informed a 66-year-old male was punched in the face by an unidentified individual,” the report reads, per CNN. “EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/ Bellevue in stable condition for treatment regarding bruising, swelling, and bleeding to his left eye.”

The alleged attacker has not been arrested and an investigation is currently ongoing. He is described as a “male with dark complexion, wearing a dark colored baseball style cap, blue T-shirt, black pants, white sneakers, and carrying a book bag.”

Buscemi isn’t the only one in the entertainment business to find himself on the other end of someone’s fist. Former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel previously claimed that she was also randomly punched in the face by a stranger.

Frankel’s claim was made in a since-deleted comment under a TikTok video in which the creator said she was hit by a man while walking home in New York City.

“This is insane [because] this happened to me a few months ago but I was embarrassed to say,” Frankel wrote, per Page Six. “I was on the [Upper West Side]. Insane. I was taking video of a bakery.”
