Some of this year’s biggest films are new on VOD this week, including the A24 dystopian drama Civil War, the romance-action-comedy The Fall Guy, and the Jake Gyllenhaal remake of Road House, which was previously only available on Prime Video.

Road House stars Gyllenhaal as Dalton, the role Patrick Swayze originated in the 1989 version of the film.In this version of Road House, directed by Doug Liman), Dalton is UFC fighter working at a bar and trying to keep the riff raff out. The film co-stars Daniela Melchior, Conor McGregor and Billy Magnussen, and definitely wins points for having some of the year’s most memorable fight scenes.

These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.

Civil War

Alex Garland’s dystopian Civil War stars Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Wagner Moura as part of a collective of journalists trying to cover the civil war that has erupted in the United States between the authoritarian government and groups of rebels fighting them. While we’re used to observing terror on the front lines on foreign soil, the film imagines what might happen to America if we had to endure another war on our our turf.

The Fall Guy

Very loosely based on the 1980s TV series of the same name (and featuring a cameo from Lee Majors), The Fall Guy stars Ryan Gosling as stunt performer Colt Seavers, who’s been hired to work on an action film directed by his ex, Jody (Emily Blunt). As Colt gets involved in a chaotic situation thanks to the film’s lead who he’s stunt-doubling, things with Jody also turn chaotic…and then, yeah, romantic.
