This week’s new movies on VOD include the family drama Reverse The Curse, written and directed by David Duchovny, the dark comedy Bad Behaviour, starring Jennifer Connelly, and the new A24 drama I Saw The TV Glow.

In I Saw The TV Glow, Justice Smith stars as Owen, a super fan of a TV series called The Pink Opaque, about two friends who fight off monsters (think Buffy). Owen finds a friend in fellow fan Maddy (Brigette Lundy-Paine) and the film becomes something of a supernatural journey and a metaphor for Maddy and Owen’ feeling’s of isolation from their community, as Maddy claims to have fallen into the show itself and found her true identity there, and encourages Owen to do the same. The film is great on its own, but the carefully selected supporting cast is also worth the price of admission.

These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.

Reverse The Curse

For baseball fans of a certain age, the term “reverse the curse” is instantly recognizable as the mantra for the Boston Red Sox between 1918 and 2004, the era when the team was unable to win a World Series title. David Duchovny wrote an entire novel about a father and son’s relationship as it revolves around their relationship to the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry (set in 1978, while the curse was still raging), and the new movie he stars in, with Logan Marshall-Green playing his son, is an adaptation of that story.

Bad Behaviour

Actress Alice Englert makes her directorial debut with the New Zealand-set Bad Behaviour, about a woman named Lucy (Jennifer Connelly) who attends a spiritual retreat led by a guru (Ben Whishaw). As she attempts to find enlightment, she uses her time there to reconnect with her daughter Dylan (Englert), but both woman end up struggling to face their personal demons and their own relationship with one another.
