Whoopi Goldberg may have gotten to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican, but she didn’t think this morning’s was the proper place to seal the deal on a Sister Act 3 cameo.

When asked by reporters if she convinced the holy head of the Catholic Church to act in the third installment of her Sister Act film series, she replied, “Well I didn’t think it was the right place to bring it up,” per Entertainment Weekly.

“I’ll probably send an email,” she quipped.

In May, Goldberg had appeared on The Tonight Show, where she said that she “offered” a cameo to the Pope in the highly anticipated film, and that “he said he’d see what his time was like,” per EW.

As noted by EW, the star took to her Instagram story on Friday, updating fans with a video captioned, “On my way to see His Holiness.”

“So, we are on our way over to see the Pope. It is the butt crack of dawn, OK?” she joked. “But this is the time we’ve been told to come over. And I mean, who minds walking down these streets? Nobody. It’s beautiful.”

As for Friday’s function, The New York Times reports that the event, featuring comedians from 15 different countries, was described by the Vatican as “an effort to ‘establish a link'” between the comedians and the Roman Catholic Church. Other than Goldberg, the 100-plus comics in attendance included Conan O’Brien, Chris Rock, Jim Gaffigan, Jimmy Fallon, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mike Birbiglia, Stephen Colbert and Tig Notaro.

Rock posted several selfies from the special occasion to his Instagram story, while Colbert revealed to reporters that he “really [wants] to do a cooking segment” with the Pope.

With respect to Sister Act, Goldberg took part in an emotional Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit reunion on last Wednesday’s (June 5) episode of The View.

Meanwhile, Joy Behar filled in for Goldberg on Thursday’s (June 13) installment of the long running ABC daytime talk show, explaining her absence and teasing, “Is she gonna get canonized? Please don’t tell me we have to call her St. Whoopi.”
