Eddie Murphy‘s new Beverly Hills Cop sequel was a family affair. Not only does the Netflix movie feature a cameo from Murphy’s real-life daughter Bria, but her husband also makes a quick appearance to tase his father-in-law.

The comedian sat down for an interview with Today‘s Al Roker this morning, where he opened up about working alongside his daughter in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

“She’s the one who arrests me,” he said. “In the other scene when I get arrested in the movie, that’s my son-in-law tasing me in the neck.”

Murphy continued, “It was right after they got married. He was on the set, tasing me in my neck. I was like, ‘This is surreal.'”

The actor originated the role of Axel Foley, a Detroit detective who moves to southern California to solve the murder of his childhood friend, when the first Beverly Hills Cop came out in 1984. He reprised the role in 1987’s Beverly Hills Cop II and 1994’s Beverly Hills Cop III.

Now, exactly 30 years after the most recent film debuted, Murphy is gearing up for the release of the franchise’s fourth installment. The only difference?

“It felt like old man,” he told Roker. “I did Beverly Hills Cop when I was 21 and now I’m 63.”

Murphy said he’d “rather not” do any of his own stunts these days, noting that he even refused to run down a set of stairs with “urgency.”

“I was like, ‘I’m not doing anything action. Don’t call me unless you offer me the same type of shit you would offer Morgan Freeman,'” he said.

Murphy will reunite with OG Beverly Hills Cop stars Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot as well as newcomers Kevin BaconJoseph Gordon-Levitt and Taylour Paige for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, which follows Axel as he works to uncover a conspiracy after his daughter’s life is threatened.

“Axel is an every man. He’s not a superhero or a super-cop,” Murphy said. “He’s the every man that rises to the occasion. I think that’s why people like him — and, more than anything, he’s funny.”

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F drops on Netflix on July 3.
