YouTube fan-favorite series Hot Ones isn’t just spicy on camera.

In a panel held Tuesday evening (June 18) at The Paley Center for Media, Sean Evans and the rest of the Hot Ones team dished all, including what guests they were most concerned for on set and who struggled with the challenge the most.

While discussing Idris Elba asking to fight producer and creator Chris Schonberger in his iconic episode, Schonberger revealed why Elba’s mood did not improve after shooting wrapped.

“[Idris Elba] at the end of that shoot then touched his eye before filming [on set] which made his team rather upset,” Schonberger said in the panel.

Meanwhile, moderator and previous Hot Ones guest Seth Meyers admitted, “I touched my eye. You guys told me not to.”

“We have that on tape,” Schonberger quipped back.

“The reason you ignore the fact that you’ve been told not to touch your eye is you think to yourself, ‘Well, it can’t get any worse,’ and then you do it, and it gets worse,” Meyers joked.

Meyers and Elba are not the only guests guilty of some hot pepper to skin contact. Will Smith also committed the crime against his eye in his respective episode.

“Most recently, it was Will Smith,” supervising producer Dominique Burroughs said. “Something happened with cross contamination in his eyes and it was just so painful to watch, I know it was painful for him, but it was painful for us, because I didn’t know what to do. His eyes started to get puffy and red.”

“Who were you the most concerned for?” Meyers asked the panel.

“Personally, for me on the other side of the table, Pete Davidson,” Evans admitted. “There was a sweat that almost looked like Patrick Ewing at the free throw line, [it looked] like an inch of sitting water. He was really going through it, like a hot flash into a cold shiver.”

Evans continued, “I remember on wing ten, the Last Dab, we put a little extra on the last wing, and I remember just grabbing it off of his side of the table and just being like, ‘I’m not allowing you to finish this.'”

Schonberger answered that he was most concerned for Coolio when he was a guest.

“It’s the one where he went crazy with the sauce at the end, and it was at the early office we were talking about, where there was no real green room. There was just a glassed-in room that was used by the staff,” Schonberger said. “He passed out on a couch for about two hours.”

Meyers then joked, “I feel like you’re in a pretty good office when people are like, ‘Is that Coolio?'”
