It’s been nearly a year since Apple TV+ released the eventful Season 1 finale of Silo, Graham Yost’s suspenseful sci-fi series based on Hugh Howey’s popular Wool novels. And we’re pleased to report that Season 2 is officially on the horizon.

During Apple’s 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month, fans of fan-favorite Apple TV+ series like Shrinking, Severance, Silo, and more got a first look at what the future holds thanks to an exciting “Coming to Apple TV+” preview montage.

Silo’s brief Season 2 scenes show Rebecca Ferguson’s Juliette navigating the outside world in her protective suit and helmet. Plus, we saw Tim Robbins’ Bernard Holland delivering the following promise to the silo’s citizens: “We are not finished. We will safely leave the Silo.” We also briefly got eyes on Common’s Robert Sims looking like a badass, as usual. So now we’re going to need Apple TV+ to drop the rest of the season ASAP.

If you, like Decider, are desperate for Silo Season 2, you’ve come to the right place. Curious when the Apple TV+ series returns with new episodes, wondering if filming is complete, what Silo Season 2 will be about, and what first-look Season 2 images look like? Read on to learn everything we know about Silo’s highly-anticipated sophomore season.

Silo Season 2 Premiere Date: When Does Silo Return With New Episodes On Apple TV+?

While there’s currently no set premiere date for Silo Season 2, Apple TV+ assured fans at WWDC that the series would return soon. With any luck, we could see new episodes in 2024, and that’s the timeline Ferguson hopes for, per her May 2024 interview with Collider. Though Ferguson admitted she hadn’t been told a set date, when asked about Season 2’s ETA, she said, “This year… That’s what I think.”

If we don’t get new episodes this year, the sophomore season likely won’t premiere until early 2025. As a reminder, Silo Season 1 premiered on May 5, 2023, so here’s hoping we won’t have to wait more than two years for Season 2.

When Did Silo Season 2 Film?

Filming for Silo Season 2 reportedly wrapped in March 2024, and in the May 2024 interview with Collider, Ferguson confirmed that the sophomore season already filmed and was in post-production. Though we’ll have to wait a while longer to learn exactly when to expect new episodes of the popular sci-fi series, we have a general idea of what the series will explore in Season 2 thanks to Season 1’s finale.

Silo Season 1 Ending Explained: What Will Silo Season 2 Be About?

As noted in a previous article, Silo’s big Season 1 finale cliffhanger offers the most insight into potential Season 2 storylines. Before the end of the season, Juliette leaves the silo and sees the same picturesque, colorful world from the hard drive video. Allison and Holston’s bodies are nowhere to be found, so she walks up to the silo’s camera, holds her cleaning rag out, and drops it on the ground in a show of victory. Then, she learns everything she thought she knew is a lie.

Inside the silo, Bernard assures Sims that Juliette will be dead before she reaches the tree. Like those before her, she falls to the ground right on time, but she wasn’t struggling to breathe, she simply tripped over an object that was invisible to her, but was very clearly shown through the silo’s window as Holston’s body. When Juliette bent down to the ground and felt around, she triggered a simulation glitch in the picturesque display she was sure was real. A panicked Bernard said, “SHE KNOWS,” and sprinted to the server room.

As Juliette processed Holston and Allison’s deaths, she realized the only reason she was still alive was because of the tape on her suit. She repeated the line from Walker’s note earlier in the episode, “They’re good in supply,” and realized Walker ensured her suit was fitted with her high-quality heat tape, which others who braved the outdoors weren’t given. As Juliette reached the top of the hill and looked out at a lush grassy meadow, flowers, trees, and birds, Bernard reached the server room, opened his “18” key, and disabled Juliette’s beautiful display, revealing everyone’s biggest fear. The desolate, barren world seen from inside the silo was, in fact, reality. And with a city far in the distance and dirt and dead bodies surrounding her, Juliette had no choice but to keep trudging on.

The ground before her was full of other silo entrances, which Season 2 will hopefully explore. We’re not sure how long Juliette can survive in that suit or where she goes from here, but the sophomore season will likely explore life both inside and outside the silo, following Juliette and those she left behind. We still have questions about the door George was talking about, how the silo residents will respond to Juliette’s seemingly successful escape, and how the silos and chaos outside came to be. But while you wait for Season 2’s premiere, we have four first-look photos to help hold you over.

Silo Season 2 First-Look Images:

As we noted above, the first Season 2 photo Apple dropped on WWDC day shows Common’s Robert Sims looking like a badass with his perfect beard.

Next up? A shot of the moment Tim Robbins’ Bernard Holland promises silo’s citizens: “We are not finished. We will safely leave the Silo.” The clip shows the group around him cheering in support, so maybe Juliette won’t be alone out there after all.

Speaking of Juliette, the final two first-look photos from Season 2 show Rebecca Ferguson’s character braving the seemingly barren wasteland of an outside world alone in her suit. What chaos awaits? Only time will tell.

Will There Be A Silo Season 3 Or Season 4 On Apple TV+?

We know Silo Season 2 hasn’t even dropped yet, but it turns out it’s not too early to be thinking about Silo Season 3 or even Silo Season 4 for that matter! When speaking to Collider, Ferguson explained, “I believe the show has an ending, and I know when that is… I mean, the books are the books, and the three books are divided into four seasons. So I believe — unless any Apple person is gonna jump on — I think we’re absolutely fine to say Season 1 we’ve done, Season 2 is shot and coming out, and we’re now looking at green-lighting Seasons 3 and 4.”

While there’s no official word from Apple on Silo Season 3, Season 4, or beyond just yet, Ferguson said, “I think we would film them maybe together, and that will be the end,” and she recently told TheWrap she’s under contract for four seasons total.

Decider will be sure to update you on the future of the series when we learn more. Until then, Silo Season 1 is now streaming on Apple TV+.
